This book blew me away with how good it was! Callum and Kate were so sweet, and although mistakes were made, I rooted for them all the way through。 I had such a hard time putting this book down that I gobbled it up in just a few days。 I’ll even admit that I liked this one so much so that after listening to it on DB Bookshelf plus with my subscription, I purchased a paperback for my shelf。 Highly recommend!

I read this book mainly because Scotland。 I enjoyed the story and it had a sweet ending。 I appreciated the amount of research and care used with dialogue that the author clearly worked on。 My only complaints mainly have to do with the fact this book is romance。 This probably wouldn't bother most, but I personally felt there was a lot lacking from the story。 The main focus is romance, so it's all physical feelings and dialogue and tension。 There were some descriptions as to scenery, but there was I read this book mainly because Scotland。 I enjoyed the story and it had a sweet ending。 I appreciated the amount of research and care used with dialogue that the author clearly worked on。 My only complaints mainly have to do with the fact this book is romance。 This probably wouldn't bother most, but I personally felt there was a lot lacking from the story。 The main focus is romance, so it's all physical feelings and dialogue and tension。 There were some descriptions as to scenery, but there was no other depth, which I missed。 But aside from the lack of depth, this is a clean, sweet romance and if you like that sort of thing, you'll probably enjoy it。 Think of this book as a Hallmark that isn't too cheesy and set in Scotland。 。。。more

I love reading。 And I usually have a pretty good opinion of books when I finish。 I think my average rating is, like, 4。3 stars or something。 But it is pretty rare if I finish a book and IMMEDIATELY want to restart and read it again because I loved it that much。 This is one of those books。 SO MUCH LOVE for this book!!

Ugh。。。I wanted to like this book, came back to it 5 or 6 times and it just wasn't it for me。 I appreciate the authenticity but reading Scottish accents in my head is difficult and honestly unattractive。 I was hoping for a bit of an Outlander vibe (minus the explicit sex scenes) with the setting but really it was just, well。。。 meh。 The Hero just stunk and everyone was so pissed at him the whole book it just got annoying。。。no real diversity in conversations。 Whole book was basically "you hurt her Ugh。。。I wanted to like this book, came back to it 5 or 6 times and it just wasn't it for me。 I appreciate the authenticity but reading Scottish accents in my head is difficult and honestly unattractive。 I was hoping for a bit of an Outlander vibe (minus the explicit sex scenes) with the setting but really it was just, well。。。 meh。 The Hero just stunk and everyone was so pissed at him the whole book it just got annoying。。。no real diversity in conversations。 Whole book was basically "you hurt her and she will never trust you" IDK, skipping to the end to find out what happens but I assume it will be just like every other book。Look I don't want to be rude because a lot of people really like this book but it just wasn't it for me。 。。。more

I did not finish the book and made only to 30%。 At the very beginning it felt shallow and sorta like fairy-tale (no magic happens, I only speak about the emotional involvement the story managed to get me)。 I also could not stand the hero who, after more than 4 years of dissapearance without a solid reason, shows up at the door of a wife he left and has an audacity to flirt and make jokes。 She, on the other hand, manages to have a civil conversation with him and even consider their future。 I mean I did not finish the book and made only to 30%。 At the very beginning it felt shallow and sorta like fairy-tale (no magic happens, I only speak about the emotional involvement the story managed to get me)。 I also could not stand the hero who, after more than 4 years of dissapearance without a solid reason, shows up at the door of a wife he left and has an audacity to flirt and make jokes。 She, on the other hand, manages to have a civil conversation with him and even consider their future。 I mean。 The guy has serious problems and I am not interested in a happy ending for him, sorry。 The girl is way too nice for my liking too, to the extent I feel she would be made a victim in their relationship in the future, so considerate and sweet she is。 A relationship with such a toxic beginning does not make a love story for me, so thanks but no。 。。。more

I'm a sucker for an accent。 Wrap that into a romance and I'm all in。 Easy read, typical love wins story。 The best kind! I'm a sucker for an accent。 Wrap that into a romance and I'm all in。 Easy read, typical love wins story。 The best kind! 。。。more

This was a fun story to listen to while also bringing up some thought provoking lines such as "if you wait until someone is perfect to love them, you'll never love anyone。" There were plenty of times where I thought the characters' actions were ridiculous and could have saved them a lot of pain if they would have not been so stupid, but in the end it was a great story about letting go, forgiving, and loving。 This was a fun story to listen to while also bringing up some thought provoking lines such as "if you wait until someone is perfect to love them, you'll never love anyone。" There were plenty of times where I thought the characters' actions were ridiculous and could have saved them a lot of pain if they would have not been so stupid, but in the end it was a great story about letting go, forgiving, and loving。 。。。more

Charming and delightful story! It was the perfect book to listen to while spending hours reorganizing a closet and taking our overgrown garden。 I think it could have been shorter without missing any of the plot or intrigue。

I really liked this book, the characters are flawed, but real。 The way they work through what life throws at them kept me reading。

BeautifulI didn’t want to like this book because it’s not a simple, straight forward love story with easy-to-overcome problems。 It’s messy, like real life。 The characters make horrible choices and end up having to deal with the consequences。 It’s heartbreaking and I hate it。 But it’s also beautiful in the way that broken things can be beautiful too。

Such a charming story。 I loved the character development and their love for each other。 A great book!

4 1/2 stars。 Better than the usual romance with a different type of plot line and more mature emotions。

What you pick up to satisfy your need for a good love story will give you more than you bargained for。 This is a love story that is hearty and robust rather than light and fluffy。 It's a story of redemption, forgiveness, and family。 Callum and Kate are both characters that you can admire, enjoy spending time with and cheer on while also getting so frustrated with them。 Mistakes we made on both parts and both needed to heal on their own and in their relationship and it was a pleasure to follow al What you pick up to satisfy your need for a good love story will give you more than you bargained for。 This is a love story that is hearty and robust rather than light and fluffy。 It's a story of redemption, forgiveness, and family。 Callum and Kate are both characters that you can admire, enjoy spending time with and cheer on while also getting so frustrated with them。 Mistakes we made on both parts and both needed to heal on their own and in their relationship and it was a pleasure to follow along as they did just that。 I enjoyed the writing of this story。 There were a couple of moments that tried to take the reader by surprise but were seen coming for the most part。 And yet, the story didn't feel predictable and recycled。 It felt fresh and deep and an enjoyable way to be sucked into a book that required all my attention。 。。。more

A beautiful historical romance set in Regency Scotland。 The story is well written and believable。 The characters are deep and imperfect but together they make a wonderful love story。 This book has so much heartache and loss but teaches that hope and love can be found。 A beautiful tale that I will read over and over again。 I highly recommend this fabulous read。

2。5 really。 I picked this book up because it was highly recommended by one of my most favorite authors。 But it was a huge let down for sure。 For starters Callum was a horrible character。 His leaving Kate and his reasons for doing it were ridiculous。 He was not redeeming at all and for sure Kate would not have forgiven him if not for Charlotte。 His father was ridiculous to be sure as well。 It was all cringing to think about the life they led as Callum grew up and his mother had to endure。。。。Then 2。5 really。 I picked this book up because it was highly recommended by one of my most favorite authors。 But it was a huge let down for sure。 For starters Callum was a horrible character。 His leaving Kate and his reasons for doing it were ridiculous。 He was not redeeming at all and for sure Kate would not have forgiven him if not for Charlotte。 His father was ridiculous to be sure as well。 It was all cringing to think about the life they led as Callum grew up and his mother had to endure。。。。Then when he found out Kate had a stillborn son and then was apparently barren。。。。 Lame。。。 And I knew they'd have another kid but of course if it had been a boy it would have been too big and pretty of a bow to tie the story up with。I actually ended up skimming the last quarter of the book because everything was just so contrived。 A let down for sure。 。。。more

I really wanted to like this book。 It was well written, but I didn’t like the content。 There was hardly any conflict besides “do I love him? “Does she love me? “。 “Can I tell my secret? “。 Disappointing

Absolutely fantastic! I loved this book and hated when I had to put it down。 Very well done and full of many different emotions。 Highly recommend to anyone who wants a sweet, clean, romance that pulls and tugs on your heartstrings。

*3。5 stars* What a lovely and romantic escape to the Scottish Highlands。 The story had me ever excited to find out what would happen next, so I whizzed through it in three happy sittings! I think Heidi Kimball’s writing has some maturing to do, but she certainly still captured my imagination with the setting and hopeful premise of Callum and Katie’s story。 I needed a sweet escape read and this one for that job well!

Well, I had to buy this book just for the cover and the premise。 I love stories set in Scotland, and I’ve enjoyed books by Heidi Kimball before, so I was quite sure I’d like this one。 The characters were colorful, interesting, and multi-layered。 I was a little peeved at Callum for his actions in the first part of the story, and I think it colored my perception of him。 It was almost as hard for me to forgive him as it was for Lady Katherine。 By the end of the tale he’d redeemed himself, though, s Well, I had to buy this book just for the cover and the premise。 I love stories set in Scotland, and I’ve enjoyed books by Heidi Kimball before, so I was quite sure I’d like this one。 The characters were colorful, interesting, and multi-layered。 I was a little peeved at Callum for his actions in the first part of the story, and I think it colored my perception of him。 It was almost as hard for me to forgive him as it was for Lady Katherine。 By the end of the tale he’d redeemed himself, though, so I was glad of that。 I grew to like him much more as the story went on。 It was quite easy to like Katherine and root for her happiness。Full of emotion and angst and a bit of heart-wrenching, this book also had messages of forgiveness and hope。 I’m looking forward to more stories from this author。 。。。more
